SAIMA SYSTEMS participates in Comertia’s 22nd Retail Conference
“Retail Captivates: The Unique Emotion”. This was the theme of the 22nd Retail Conference organized in November 2024 by the Catalan association Comertia, which brought together more than 250 business owners and executives from the sector.
As a Global Partner of Comertia, we had the opportunity to participate in Comertia’s traditional annual gathering, held at CosmoCaixa. Our delegation was led by Sales Director Ignacio Marco Pérez, who spearheaded this pivotal moment for our company. The event served to strengthen the relationship between SAIMA SYSTEMS and retail companies, enabling us to collaborate on connectivity and digital transformation to drive business growth.

The event featured business leaders such as Josep Ametller (Ametller Origen), Lluís De Buen (Fishhh!), Cristina Cabañas (Guitart Hotels), Javier Carrera (Hurley), Lucas Morera (Brownie), and Miguel Ángel Fernández (Nude Project), as well as figures from the cultural and sports worlds, including Pilarin Bayés and Àlex Roca.
An event focused on the customer experience and technology
Before introducing the speakers, Comertia President Ignasi Pietx delivered a welcome address to explain the current state of companies in society and the challenges they face. Referring to the event’s theme, he also noted that “every time a person walks into a store, they are not just buying a product or service, but seeking and experiencing a unique, captivating experience”.
During the roundtable discussion, Hurley CEO Javier Carrera explained, regarding brand purpose, that “love is achieved through a product that offers special functionality and a very deep connection, even though nothing captivates more than the physical store”. For his part, Nude Project’s retail director, Miguel Ángel Fernández, shared his views on the implementation of AI in the industry and stated that “it cannot replace human creativity”. Along these same lines, Pilarin Bayés warned of the shortcomings of artificial intelligence, while noting that values such as perseverance, humility, and imagination are essential for entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Josep Ametller, whose company Ametller Origen provides more than 4,000 jobs, highlighted the importance of technology, as it has a significant impact on restocking. “We need to go digital because we can now predict what a customer will buy in a few weeks’ time by analyzing consumption patterns”, said the Catalan executive.
