DORMITY

Centralized connectivity for agile growth

Opening a new store involves much more than just setting up the space. From day one, the internet connection, applications, Wi-Fi, security, and access for technical staff must all be up and running.

Dormity implemented SAIWALL Secure SD-WAN to replicate this technological environment at each location. SAIMA CPC 3.5 automated the onboarding of devices and facilitated the launch of new stores without the need for manual configurations at each location.

The customer

Dormity is a Catalan brand specializing in sleep products and solutions. The company manufactures its products in-house and combines innovation, proprietary technology, and personalized advice to tailor its solutions to each customer’s needs.

With 40 years of experience, its sales network has undergone steady growth: from about 30 stores in 2013 to more than 70 stores today. After an initial phase of expansion focused on Catalonia, the company has gradually expanded its presence to the Basque Country, Madrid, Toledo, Andalusia, La Rioja, Navarre, and Andorra.

Its operations are supported by its own logistics center spanning more than 6,500 m² located in Terrassa, from which it coordinates a large part of its operations and distribution. This commercial and logistics structure requires a technological infrastructure capable of connecting the various stores, facilitating the opening of new locations, and maintaining common standards for security and management.

The challenge

Each Dormity' store needed its own firewall, proxy, Wi-Fi, and security policies. Managing these elements individually forced the technical team to repeat configurations and increased complexity as the retail network grew.

This challenge was particularly evident during new store openings. Dormity needed to receive equipment quickly and get the store up and running even when the permanent FTTH connection was not yet available. The infrastructure had to be able to start operating via a 4G/5G connection and later migrate to the fixed line without having to redo the entire deployment.

Store operations also depended on applications hosted in an international cloud environment. It was necessary to secure these communications, allow remote access for users and vendors via two-factor authentication, and maintain the ability to change or replicate the cloud infrastructure.

All of this had to be supported by a technical service available during Dormity’s actual business hours—including Saturdays—and ready to be progressively integrated with its cybersecurity tools.

“Now we can quickly launch a new store and manage the entire network without having to handle each location individually.”

Solution

SAIMA SYSTEMS designed a deployment model that allows each store to be integrated into the Dormity network without having to set up its infrastructure from scratch.

SAIWALL Secure SD-WAN provides connectivity and security; SAIMA CPC 3.5 automates the setup of the equipment; and SAIWALL SD-WAN Orchestrator centralizes the configuration of the entire network.

  • A single configuration for the entire network. Dormity manages the firewall, proxy, Wi-Fi, and security policies applied across its various locations.
  • Automated deployment of new stores. The devices are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. When connected via FTTH or 4G/5G, SAIMA CPC 3.5 verifies their status, applies the configuration assigned by the SAIWALL SD-WAN Orchestrator, and integrates them into the network without requiring manual configuration at the store.
  • Secure connection to business applications. Communications between stores and Dormity’s international cloud are encrypted, protecting access to the services used in day-to-day operations.
  • Controlled remote access. Users and vendors can connect via VPN with two-factor authentication, facilitating remote access without exposing the network.
  • The freedom to evolve the cloud infrastructure. The virtualized architecture makes it possible to replicate the environment or migrate it to another cloud whenever Dormity's needs require it.
  • A foundation designed to enhance security. SAIWALL Secure SD-WAN incorporates IPS protection and enables further integration with the company's SIEM connector and IDS detection.
  • Support tailored to business operations. The SLA service also covers Saturdays, when stores are open and any issue can directly impact their operations.
  • Optimization of data services. Traffic management and coordination with carriers have reduced communications costs by more than 30%.

Conclusion

Dormity now has a model for integrating and managing its locations through technology. When a new device is connected, SAIMA CPC 3.5 automates its setup and applies the appropriate configuration from the SAIWALL SD-WAN Orchestrator.

This process allows a store to be activated via FTTH or 4G/5G without repeating configurations or dispatching specialized technical staff. Once the location is onboarded, network and security policies can be managed centrally alongside those of the rest of the retail network.

The company also has secure communications with its cloud applications and secure remote access for users and suppliers, maintaining the flexibility needed to adapt its infrastructure to new requirements.

The result is a more agile deployment, more streamlined day-to-day management, and a reduction of more than 30% in data costs. For Dormity, technology is no longer an additional task with each new store opening but has become a repeatable foundation for opening new stores.
